LAKSHMANAN KRISHNAMURTI, MD

LAKSHMANAN KRISHNAMURTI, MDDr. Krishnamurti is a pediatric hematologist-oncologist with interest in hematopoietic cell transplantation for patients with sickle cell disease. He is the Director of the Bone Marrow Transplant program at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Dr. Krishnamurti was the first physician in the world to perform a reduced-intensity bone marrow transplant in a patient with sickle cell disease while at the University of Minnesota in 1999. He was also the first to successfully perform the region's first successful bone marrow transplant in a patient with sickle cell disease when he was at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Dr. Krishnamurti is co-PI of BMT CTN 1503 trial, STRIDE2.

MARK C. WALTERS, MD

MARK C. WALTERS, MDDr. Walters is a pediatric hematologist-oncologist with a career interest in hematopoietic cell transplantation. He is the Jordan Family Director of Bone Marrow Transplantation at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland. Dr. Walters has been the Director of Stem Cell Therapy and a Division leader since 1999. Since joining Children’s Hospital, he has devoted his research career to pursuing curative therapies for hemoglobin disorders with an overarching goal of expanding this treatment more broadly to affected individuals. Currently, he is the Chair of the NHLBI Sickle Cell Disease Advisory Committee. Dr. Walters is co-PI of BMT CTN 1503 trial, STRIDE2.
