Study Design

The study will observe participants and their health over a long period of time. Participants will be enrolled nationally at several hospitals as well as in France.

Participants will complete an annual study visit. Each clinic visit includes heart rate and blood pressure, height and weight, waist and hip circumference, a blood and urine sample, a hand grip test, and a 30-second stand up test. These visits may be done in your post sickle cell clinic if you had a bone marrow transplant or may be done in the privacy of your own home.

You will be asked to complete surveys at 3 to 4 time periods during the year. These surveys will each take about 20 minutes. You may do surveys in pencil and paper format, on the STELLaR website, or over the phone with a research team member.

You will be compensated for specimen collection and for the surveys at each time point.

You will receive a yearly reminder for your study visit and reminders each time your surveys are due.
